About Compass Claim Consultants
Compass Claim Consultants was founded on the belief that homeowners and property owners deserve someone in their corner, someone who understands both the details of insurance policies and the realities of home construction.
With more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Compass is led by a licensed public adjuster who has built over 300 homes and managed everything from individual custom homes to entire job sites with dozens of homes under construction. From working as a carpenter to overseeing vendor relationships and purchasing key materials like windows and siding for a national homebuilder, that experience means we speak the language of construction just as well as we understand the claims process.
Our founder also began his career as a licensed insurance agent, giving Compass a rare perspective on how claims are handled from both sides. Today, we still walk every property and get on roofs, in addition to utilizing the latest technology including Artificial Intelligence, Xactimate estimating, FAA certified drone inspections, and high resolution satellite imaging to thoroughly document damage and present strong, accurate claims.
Whether you are a homeowner dealing with emergency storm damage, a property manager overseeing multiple units, or a contractor looking for claim support on behalf of your clients, Compass provides honest, experienced guidance every step of the way.
FAQ
1. What does a public adjuster do
A public adjuster represents you—not the insurance company—during the insurance claims process. We evaluate damage, interpret your policy, estimate the full value of your loss, and negotiate directly with the insurance company to make sure you receive the compensation you’re entitled to.
2. Why should I hire Compass Claim Consultants?
We’re licensed, bonded, and experienced advocates who understand both insurance policies and construction. We don’t just read your policy—we interpret it, apply it, and fight for your best outcome. With Compass, you’ll always know where your claim stands and what to expect next.
3. How much does it cost to hire a public adjuster?
Our fee is a small percentage of the final claim settlement and is only paid when you get paid. There are no upfront costs, and we offer free consultations to help you understand your options before moving forward
4. What is hail damage and how does it affect my home?
Hail may look harmless at first, but it can bruise or crack shingles, loosen granules, dent soft metals, and cause leaks over time. Left unaddressed, it can shorten the lifespan of your roof and void manufacturer warranties.
5. Can wind really damage my roof?
Absolutely. Wind can lift shingles, tear them off entirely, or break their adhesive seal. Even a single missing or loosened shingle can lead to leaks, water damage, and mold growth. Not all wind damage is visible from the ground.
6. What is Actual Cash Value (ACV)?
Think of ACV like garage sale pricing. It’s the value of your damaged item after subtracting depreciation (age and wear). If your 10-year-old roof costs $10,000 to replace, the ACV might only be $4,000.
7. What is Replacement Cost Value (RCV)?
RCV is what it costs to replace your damaged property today with brand-new materials of similar kind and quality. If your roof costs $10,000 to replace, your RCV is $10,000—even if it’s old.
8. What’s a deductible, and how does it work?
Your deductible is the amount you’re responsible for paying before your insurance kicks in. If your deductible is $1,000 and your covered damage is $10,000, the insurance company will pay $9,000.
9. What happens during a free inspection?
We’ll inspect your roof, siding, and other exterior elements for storm damage. If damage is found, we’ll help determine if it makes sense to file a claim, walk you through your policy, and support you every step of the way.
10. I already filed a claim—can Compass still help?
Yes! Even if your claim is already in progress or was denied, we can step in to review your policy, re-inspect the damage, and negotiate a better settlement. It’s never too late to ask for help.
11. What if my insurance company says there’s no damage, but I know there is?
It happens more than you’d think. Insurance adjusters can miss things or interpret policies narrowly. We’ll provide a second opinion, thorough documentation, and if needed, request a reinspection or appraisal.
12. Can you work with my contractor?
Definitely. While Compass is independent and works with many contractors, we’re happy to collaborate with your preferred contractor—or refer one if needed. We handle the claim; they handle the repairs.
13. What kinds of property damage do you handle?
We specialize in storm-related damage, including hail, wind, fallen trees, water leaks, and structural issues. We can also assist with fire, smoke, and other types of residential property claims.
14. How long does the claims process take?
Every claim is different, but most are resolved within a few weeks to a few months. We keep things moving by staying in direct contact with your insurance company and keeping you informed at every step.
15. Will filing a claim raise my insurance rates?
It depends. If the damage is storm-related and widespread in your area, filing a claim likely won’t impact your rates individually. But not filing a valid claim could cost you much more in out-of-pocket repairs. We’ll help you make an informed decision.
